Monitoring and Verification of PER1 & PER2 Wind Farms in Puerto Madryn
Coralia Environmental leads the monitoring report for the PER1 and PER2 wind farms under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), ensuring technical rigor and transparency in the quantification of emission reductions for Argentina’s energy transition.

Industry
Wind Energy

Location
Argentina

Overview
"The PER1 project comprises 27 V90 IEC IIA wind turbines with an installed capacity of 48.6 MW, while PER2 has 16 turbines of the same model with a total capacity of 28.8 MW. Together, they total 77.4 MW of installed renewable energy. During the second monitoring period (January 1 to December 31, 2014), the net electricity generation was 181,621 MWh for PER1 and 111,392 MWh for PER2, totaling 293,014 MWh delivered to the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI).

The applied methodology, ACM0002, enabled precise calculation of avoided emissions, taking into account factors such as the actual performance of measurement equipment, controlled and verified by CAMMESA, and the Argentine electricity grid emission factor. This rigorous approach ensures the reliability of the results. The outcome was a certified reduction of 209,719 tCO₂e, surpassing the initial PDD estimate (189,109 tCO₂e) thanks to a higher-than-expected ex-post emission factor.
Our role included the collection, analysis, and validation of hourly generation and consumption data, quality control of information against billing, and thorough documentation of all procedures, ensuring that reported emission reductions were real, measurable, and verifiable. These actions maintain the integrity and transparency of the monitoring process.
This work not only supports the generation of high-quality carbon credits but also contributes to the energy transition and global climate change mitigation goals. In doing so, it reinforces the commitment to sustainable development and the effective reduction of the environmental footprint in the energy sector.
The applied methodology, ACM0002, enabled precise calculation of avoided emissions, taking into account factors such as the actual performance of measurement equipment, controlled and independently verified by CAMMESA, and the Argentine electricity grid emission factor. Our role included the systematic collection, detailed analysis, and validation of hourly generation and consumption data, quality control of information against billing, and thorough documentation of all monitoring procedures, ensuring that reported emission reductions were real, measurable, and verifiable. These coordinated actions maintain the integrity and transparency of the monitoring process. This work not only supports the generation of high-quality carbon credits but also contributes directly to the energy transition and global climate change mitigation goals. In doing so, it reinforces the firm commitment to sustainable development and the effective reduction of the environmental footprint in the energy sector.
