Overview

In 2020, Coralia Environmental conducted a comprehensive climate risk analysis across a set of YPF’s facilities and operations, the country’s largest energy company. The work involved designing and implementing a customized climate risk methodology, generating actionable results directly applicable within the company’s internal management systems, supporting long-term resilience and strategic decision-making.

The methodology developed stood out for its innovative nature and high technical level. It included the creation of future risk maps with horizons of up to 100 years, considering scenarios such as torrential rainfall, heat waves, and droughts. It served as the basis for analyzing eight operations distributed across the national territory, covering industrial complexes, conventional and unconventional oil and gas fields, as well as thermal power plants.

Based on the results, Coralia designed a comprehensive adaptation plan that allowed for the classification of measures and the proposal of concrete actions to mitigate the impacts of climate change on YPF’s activities. This approach not only provided practical solutions but also laid the foundation for strengthening the company’s operational and strategic resilience against future climate scenarios.

The success of this work consolidated trust between the two organizations and led YPF to re-engage Coralia’s services in 2024 and 2025. Currently, the update of the risk analysis and improvement of internal methodologies are underway, in a partnership that reaffirms YPF’s commitment to sustainability and responsible climate management in the Argentine energy industry.
